Qualcomm Unveils Snapdragon X Plus Laptop Platform

Qualcomm claims the new processor steps below the previously announced Snapdragon X Elite chips. The Snapdragon X Plus features a 10-core Oryon CPU, clockable up to 3.4 GHz with 135 GB/s of RAM, supporting up to 64GB. Additionally, it integrates an NPU of 45 TOPS, purportedly the fastest NPUs for laptops worldwide.

On-Device AI Capabilities

During its presentation, Qualcomm displayed a variety of Snapdragon XPlus-powered applications, including ones that use device AI for better functionality, such as code generation in Visual Studio Code and music generation in Audacity.

Availability and Performance

Leading global OEMs will release Snapdragon X Plus laptops mid-year. The company claims 37% faster performance and 54% less power consumption than competitors. The laptops have a 42MB cache, LPDDR5x RAM, and 4nm processes.

With ten cores, forty-two megabytes of cache, a maximum frequency of three-point four gigahertz, and forty-five tops, the Snapdragon X Plus qualifies as a Qualcomm entry-level laptop chip. It also supports LPDDR5X memory and features an integrated Adreno GPU boasting three-point eight teraflops.

Qualcomm will also introduce three 12-core chipsets named Snapdragon X Elite, offering even more power and higher performance. These chips come with maximum frequencies of three to eight gigahertz and up to four to six teraflops of GPU coupled with a dual-core boost for improved speeds.
