An update has finally enabled Google Play Store users to download two apps simultaneously, enhancing convenience for them. In recent years, there have been many changes in the Play Store. For instance, it added AI-generated FAQs for app listings just recently, and artificial intelligence plans to provide brief summaries of app and game descriptions as well. Nevertheless, one thing remained unchanged among all these transformations: people could only get one application downloaded at a time.
Google Play Store Update: Reports of Wider Rollout
Google has now enabled Android users to download two applications simultaneously on their devices, a much-awaited feature that will significantly speed up the downloading process for many people. According to 9to5Google reports cited by Android Police, some Pixel smartphones running version 40.6.31 of the Google Play Store have already received this feature.
Limitations and Potential Adjustments
The new update restricts users to downloading two apps simultaneously, with other apps queued until space is available. Previous leaks hinted at the potential for up to five simultaneous downloads, suggesting that future adjustments may still be on the horizon.
Despite the significant advancement achieved by introducing the multi-download feature into the Play Store architecture, there is still room for improvement. Currently, it lacks the capability to update applications collectively, processing each update request separately. Users eagerly anticipate the implementation of a feature that allows for simultaneous processing of multiple updates, which would save considerable time.
Google’s Ongoing Efforts
It was back in 2019 when Google started working towards enabling multi-app downloads to improve customer satisfaction levels, as thus far demonstrated by its commitment to continuously enhancing the user experience in all aspects associated with Android-based systems.
